LegalFly Legal AI Review [2026]
Josh Bertini, Head of Growth•Published
LegalFly is a platform for contract review, drafting, research, and workflows across legal and business teams. For commercial counsel evaluating an inbound-contract process, the relevant capabilities include customizable playbooks, Word redlines, and document anonymization.
For an in-house team, the key questions are whether LegalFly’s playbook review applies approved positions, which research sources and workflows the proposed purchase includes, and how business-user access and automated runs affect the quote.
GC AI is enterprise legal AI software for in-house counsel, used by 2,100+ legal teams, including TIME, Arc’teryx, and Snyk. Our Playbooks apply a legal team's review positions to contracts and show findings and proposed changes that counsel can inspect in Word. Our workspace brings cited research, drafting, and business advice alongside that contract review.
LegalFly Products and What to Test
LegalFly offers Review for contract analysis, Draft for drafting, Discovery for research and document questions, and Multi Review for batch analysis. Legal Radar monitors regulatory changes, while Agent Studio can configure request routes and approvals. Knowledge combines authoritative legal content with a team’s internal sources.
For an incoming-contract pilot, test Review with the playbook your team would use. Add research or request-routing products only if those jobs matter to the purchase. Because LegalFly uses custom quotes, ask which products, user roles, and workflow runs the proposed agreement covers before comparing the full cost.

LegalFly Review: Apply Playbooks and Redline in Word
In LegalFly Review, the user supplies a contract and applies a playbook. The product identifies the contract type, jurisdiction, and party roles, then returns clause-level issues, explanations, and suggested changes. Its Word add-in presents redlines and tracked changes in the document.
LegalFly Playbooks can incorporate preferred language, fallback positions, risk thresholds, and jurisdiction-specific rules. The useful question is how those instructions behave together. A fallback may be acceptable for a low-risk purchase but require escalation when the supplier will process sensitive data.
For the software-purchase example below, include the master services agreement, order form, data processing agreement, and approved review positions. Our contract review checklist covers preparation, and our DPA review guide explains the separate privacy review.
Counsel should review the proposed edits in context, including defined terms, cross-references, and the interaction between the limitation of liability and the obligations it covers.
LegalFly Fit and Implementation Work
LegalFly fits recurring review when counsel has written positions to apply. If those standards live mainly in individual lawyers' judgment, turning them into rules and deciding which exceptions require escalation becomes a substantial implementation task.
Implementation requirement: Assign a lawyer to maintain the playbook and an owner for each escalation route. Include their time in the purchase case. If the same exceptions keep reaching legal, revise the rule or the intake questions before expanding business-user access.
For sensitive documents, review the data flow and deployment options before using live material in a pilot. A multinational team should also test the legal sources returned by Discovery and Knowledge for its jurisdictions and matters.
LegalFly Research and Contract Intelligence: Verify Scope and Availability
For buyers, these capabilities raise two separate diligence questions: what legal sources LegalFly can return for your work and whether its advertised Contract Intelligence functions are available in the package you would buy.
Research Coverage
LegalFly offers international legal research, but coverage differs by product. Discovery lists sources across 130+ jurisdictions, while Knowledge describes a knowledge base covering 35 jurisdictions. Those figures do not establish an identical source collection across all workflows.
Ask for a demonstration of the law you work with: the jurisdiction, subject, source publisher, and update date. Inspect the cited authority and check whether it supports the answer. Language support also needs its own test; translating a contract does not establish coverage of the law governing it.
Contract Intelligence Availability
LegalFly’s Contract Intelligence covers approval, signature, and post-signature monitoring; the current public page also invites buyers to join a waitlist. Ask the vendor to demonstrate the functions available in your proposed purchase and identify any restricted or forthcoming access in writing.
Agent Studio and Integrations: Route Requests and Exceptions
LegalFly lists Microsoft Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Google Drive, and Slack integrations. They can serve different jobs, from editing a contract to retrieving company material or routing a request. Confirm which connections and steps your proposed purchase includes.
Test one proposed request route. Have procurement submit an agreement by the intended channel, then ask LegalFly to demonstrate how the configured workflow applies review instructions, flags an exception, and sends it to the designated lawyer. Inspect the resulting document, who can approve the exception, and what the record shows if the instructions do not cover it. Treat these as pilot questions, not assumptions about an out-of-the-box route.
Bring an administrator to check the connection permissions, restricted folders, and what happens when a user loses access. The vendor’s integrations list identifies possibilities; the configured workflow and contracted access determine what your team can use.
LegalFly Pricing: Get a Quote for the Workload
As of October 2026, LegalFly does not publish a standard subscription rate. Request a quote that separates access and usage for the pilot from the products, users, and volume you expect in regular operation. A limited pilot may omit a product needed later, while temporary pilot allowances may not carry into the subscription.
Legal-user licenses, Collaborator Access for business users, and usage-based automated workflows can each affect the total. Ask for included products, seat commitments, workflow allowances, and overage rates. Add implementation, playbook configuration, integration work, support, and deployment costs.
Model a realistic month with repeat review rounds and failed or rerun workflows. Confirm which events count toward usage, renewal increases, and the cost of exporting work when the contract ends. A public price for another product or a promotional discount cannot substitute for LegalFly’s proposed order form.
Security: Separate Anonymization, Training, and Retention
LegalFly reports ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certifications and supports private cloud, hybrid, and full on-premise deployments. Request the current reports and the architecture for the deployment you intend to buy.
Security review needs to separate three questions: what data reaches the model, whether customer data can be used for training, and what LegalFly retains. LegalFly’s public Trust Center describes no-training and retention arrangements for underlying model providers. Its public terms say customer data will not train the SaaS solution without customer consent. The privacy policy separately describes retaining anonymized contract content to improve services and provide insights.
The Trust Center, terms, privacy policy, and your DPA cover different commitments. Have privacy and security reviewers establish which commitments govern your contract, then reconcile them with the data processing agreement. Confirm what LegalFly stores, what each model provider receives, and how the service handles documents, outputs, logs, and backups.
Test the anonymization step with representative files, including a scan and an attachment. Ask who can restore identifying information, which settings permit non-anonymized processing, and how deletion works.
Apply the same questions when evaluating GC AI’s security commitments, including the distinction between provider retention and content your team keeps in the platform.
How GC AI Handles Contract Review and Legal Advice
Cecilia Ziniti, our co-founder and a three-time general counsel, used early language models for legal work at Replit before co-founding GC AI. Her in-house experience is relevant to the buyer’s test here: counsel must be able to inspect a proposed change, check the law behind a disputed position, and explain the business choice.
Lauren Anderson, then Senior Counsel at Wayfair, described using GC AI for a first pass on commercial contracts in an episode of CZ and Friends, our podcast for in-house legal leaders:
We use GC AI often. We've implemented a process where you rely on it for a first pass.
Lauren Anderson’s example illustrates a real first-pass use; it does not establish how either product would perform on your contracts.
Both platforms offer review, research, and drafting. The useful comparison is how LegalFly and GC AI handle the same matter: what issues each product identifies, what sources and proposed edits it provides, and how much lawyer correction the output requires.
| Reader Priority | LegalFly | Why We Recommend GC AI |
|---|---|---|
| Research a disputed U.S. contract position | Discovery and Knowledge advertise research with different coverage descriptions. Confirm the U.S. authorities in your subscription and inspect the answer’s citations. | Our US Case Law searches federal and state opinions in the contract conversation and opens cited full opinions in the Opinion Reader. Counsel must verify the authorities and treatment. It is included in Team and Enterprise plans and available as an Individual add-on. |
| Carry findings into advice | Review, Draft, Discovery, and Agent Studio address analysis, drafting, research, and configured routing. Test the handoffs among the products in your quote. | Our workspace lets counsel carry a reviewed clause into cited U.S. research and draft advice for the business. |
| Support adoption | Confirm what configuration and training LegalFly includes for the selected products. | Our Team plan includes a product walkthrough and Solutions Attorney support; legal AI courses are listed for Individual and Team. Compare the support included in each proposal. |

Test Both Products on the Same Contract
Contract-review test: Give both LegalFly and GC AI the same representative agreement, approved review positions, governing jurisdiction, and business context. Before running either tool, have counsel identify a known omission, a conflict between the documents, and a fallback that requires approval.
For GC AI, apply the relevant Playbook to the document it is configured to review, then inspect its findings and proposed changes in GC AI for Word. Ask both vendors how the related order form and DPA enter their particular workflow. Counsel should check the missing provision, cross-document conflict, and fallback requiring approval against the underlying text.
Legal-research test: If a U.S. legal issue remains, use our Research feature and US Case Law to examine a defined question, such as the treatment of a proposed liability limitation under the governing law. Open the cited opinions, compare their facts and reasoning, check subsequent treatment where available, and independently verify material citations.
Business-response test: Ask for a draft that separates required changes, acceptable fallbacks, and unresolved business decisions. With our Agent Connectors, find procurement’s latest thread, use the checked contract terms and research to draft a reply, and prepare a follow-up task with an owner and deadline. Counsel checks the recipient, text, owner, and deadline before approving the action. This is an illustrative pilot. Use Needs Approval for actions that send or change data; access depends on organization enablement, each member’s connected account, and the enabled tools and permissions.
Compare the results: Record whether each configured workflow found the selected omission and document conflict, applied the approved fallback, and routed the exception correctly. Compare missed issues, unsupported statements, lawyer correction time, the approval record, and the full contracted cost.
