Robin AI Legal Review [2026]: Pricing, Features, and Limits
Josh Bertini, Head of Growth•Published
Robin AI combines playbook review, Word drafting, portfolio search, and obligation tracking for in-house teams. This Robin AI legal review examines how those capabilities fit contract negotiations and work after signature, what its documented limits mean for counsel, and what to confirm before buying. Software pricing comes through a private offer.
Robin continues to market its software platform, and its current Terms identify Robin AI Limited as the software supplier. Buyers should still confirm the current commercial offer and support arrangements for their deployment.
GC AI is enterprise legal AI software for in-house counsel, used by 2,100+ legal teams, including Arc’teryx, TIME, and Snyk. Our Playbooks and Word integration help counsel apply company positions during negotiations, while Contract Intelligence helps teams understand the terms governing their signed agreements. This review compares those workflows with Robin's capabilities and identifies what to test before choosing a platform.
What Does Robin AI Do for Legal Teams?
Robin covers proposed agreements and signed-contract portfolios. Review and Word editing address the incoming document; library search and obligation tracking help teams act on existing commitments.
Playbook Review: Uploads and Word Negotiations
Robin's Review with Playbook workflow accepts a .docx contract and a playbook in .docx or PDF format, then produces a downloadable Word document with suggested redlines. Additional instructions can provide context for the review.
The upload-based Review with Playbook workflow applies first-round positions. Its help page says fallback and escalation positions are not yet supported and recommends a clean, unmarked .docx contract.
Robin separately describes multiround playbook negotiation in its Word add-in, including counterparty redlines, fallback wording, and preservation of counsel’s edits. Confirm which workflow and capabilities your deployment includes.
Drafting, Editing, and Research in Word
In Word, Robin offers Ask, Draft, Edit, and Research. Counsel can ask about a contract, draft clauses from instructions and other documents, apply edits as redlines, and receive research answers with web-source links.
A lawyer might summarize a termination provision for procurement, draft a replacement clause from an approved precedent, or revise a defined section during negotiation.
Counsel should check summaries, replacement clauses, and research answers differently. A summary should preserve exceptions and dependencies. A replacement clause should fit the agreement's definitions and cross-references. A research answer requires review of the cited authority, including its jurisdiction and relevance.
Search and Analysis Across a Contract Library
Robin lets users filter a contract library by document type, status, permission group, properties, and keywords. They can combine conditions, use exact matches, and move selected results into a table or conversation. Answers can link back to source documents.
These search and analysis tools are useful when the request concerns a group of agreements: Which suppliers have a particular termination right? Which contracts contain a notice requirement? Which documents should legal review after a business change?
An amendment may change the notice period in the original agreement, or an order form may introduce a different renewal date. In a demo or pilot, check whether Robin's answer reflects the operative documents and explains how they relate. Our guide to contract intelligence explores this distinction between locating text and understanding contractual obligations.
Obligation Tracking After Signature
Robin tracks time-based and event-based obligations with notifications, manager escalation, notes, and completion or compliance statuses. Teams can export completed records and their audit history as a CSV.
This makes obligation management a separate buying consideration from AI review. A legal team may correctly identify a reporting duty but still need an accountable owner, a due date, and evidence that the required action occurred.
For example, completing a review of a notice clause does not establish that the notice was sent. The workflow should preserve both the lawyer's interpretation and the business team's evidence of performance. Evaluate those handoffs alongside the quality of extraction.
Workspaces and Reusable Work
Robin workspaces organize conversations and collaborative analysis. Review conversations start private, with options to share or invite collaborators; teams can also use templates and tables. For recurring work, check whether the saved conversation retains the source documents, review instructions, and unresolved questions another lawyer needs.
How Much Does Robin AI Cost?
We don’t have a current Robin AI quote. Its AWS Marketplace listing describes illustrative platform and user fees and directs buyers to a private offer for pricing.
Request a proposal for your team’s products, users, and expected workload before budgeting.
Ask for a proposal that distinguishes:
- Software capabilities and user access included.
- Implementation, document migration, and integration work.
- Training, ongoing support, and any usage limits.
- Separately supplied legal services.
- Renewal terms and the cost of exporting your work.
The commercial comparison should reflect the workload you intend to move. A per-user figure tells you little if the proposal excludes the portfolio analysis, implementation support, or integrations that made the platform attractive in the first place.
Robin AI's Managed-Services Acquisition: What Buyers Should Check
Robin's managed-services offering combines people and AI for contract markups and negotiations. Scissero acquired Robin's managed-services team in December 2025, and Scissero said existing clients would continue receiving those services through the combined business. Robin's current website still markets managed services under the Robin name, so prospective buyers should confirm which entity would contract for a new engagement and whether software access is included.
The announcement does not say Scissero acquired Robin's software platform.
If outsourced review is part of your plan, request a proposal that names the contracting entity, responsible legal team, contract types covered, escalation process, and service commitments. Confirm which software access, if any, accompanies that engagement.
For an existing customer, the practical questions include who supports the account, where matter records reside, and how outstanding negotiations transfer. For a prospective software buyer, confirm platform licensing, implementation, and support directly.
Security and Data Use
Robin says customer data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Its public materials reference ISO 27001 and SOC 2 and describe access controls and other safeguards. Ask for the supporting documentation and confirm which services, entities, and hosting arrangements it covers.
Robin's public security page says customer data will not be used for model training, fine-tuning, or other feature development without express consent. Its current Terms, however, say Robin processes and stores inputs and outputs for model training and grant Robin a license to use User Content for training AI models. A separate paid contract governs when one is in effect. Counsel should review the applicable Service Agreement, Order Form, DPA, and incorporated Terms before uploading confidential material.
Establish what happens to uploaded documents, prompts, outputs, and derived data, including retention, deletion, model-provider access, and permitted uses.
Integrations and Implementation
Robin's application programming interface (API) can connect extracted contract data with contract lifecycle management, customer relationship management, and enterprise resource planning systems. Ask which connections are available for your deployment.
Have legal operations and IT trace a real document through the proposed setup. Identify the source repository, the permissions applied after import, the update process, and the destination for reviewed results. Confirm what happens when a source document changes or someone loses access.
Assign an owner to each implementation task. Legal should approve review standards and substantive outputs. IT or security should validate access and data handling. Legal operations should own the document process and ongoing administration.

What to Test in a Robin AI Demo
To see how Robin handles a real legal workflow, test it on one completed supplier renewal your team knows well. Bring the signed agreement, an amendment changing the notice period, the clean .docx renewal draft from before counsel's review, and the approved playbook. Keep counsel's resolved issue list for comparison. The exercise below tests Robin's review, amendment analysis, obligation handling, and handoff.
Review the Draft Against the Playbook
Start by testing whether Robin identifies the same issues counsel found and applies the approved opening positions. Submit the clean .docx draft and playbook. Compare the downloaded first-round redline with counsel's resolved issue list, recording omitted issues, incorrect edits, and correction time.
Then open counterparty redlines in Robin’s Word workflow and test its multiround playbooks and fallback wording. Check that counsel’s edits remain intact and confirm which exception decisions require human approval.
Identify the Notice Period After the Amendment
Next, test whether Robin can reconcile the amendment with the original agreement to identify the governing renewal notice period. Open the cited passages in the signed agreement and amendment, check how they relate, and record any corrections.
Repeat the notice-period question with a relevant document missing or conflicting. The answer should identify the uncertainty for counsel to resolve rather than assume a term.
Assign and Complete the Obligation
After counsel verifies the notice deadline and required delivery method, ask Robin to demonstrate assigning an owner, sending a notification, and escalating an overdue or unresolved obligation.
The business owner decides whether to renew. Check that the completion record can distinguish reviewing the clause from sending the required notice and retain evidence of the action taken.
Export the Record and Test the Handoff
Export the completed obligation audit trail. Also ask how to retain the approved instructions, source references, final document, and decision record; establish which items require a separate export or manual record.
Give a second lawyer the saved matter. They should be able to identify the documents reviewed, the playbook version used, and any unresolved decisions. Assess the result by missed issues, amendment errors, lawyer correction time, and the records retained.
Robin AI vs. GC AI: Compare the Work Your Team Needs to Complete
Both Robin AI and GC AI support contract review, drafting, and research. To compare them, examine how each handles company fallback positions, terms changed by amendments, and the sources counsel needs to verify.
| Reader Priority | Robin | Why We Recommend GC AI |
|---|---|---|
| Apply Company Review Standards | The upload Review with Playbook workflow is documented as first-round-only. Robin’s Word playbooks also address multiround counterparty redlines and fallback wording. Test both routes included in your proposal. | Our Playbooks capture company standards and fallback positions, and GC AI for Word supports drafting and redlining. Test how each platform applies approved fallbacks to counterparty edits and preserves counsel’s changes. |
| Establish the Current Contract Terms | Library search, source-linked analysis, and obligation workflows help teams locate agreements and track commitments. | Our Contract Intelligence provides cited portfolio answers and a Current Terms view that reconciles related agreements and amendments. Check the answer against the operative documents. |
| Inspect U.S. Case Law | Research in Robin’s Word add-in searches web sources using document context and returns linked citations. | Our US Case Law feature searches federal and state opinions in the same conversation as contract review and drafting. Counsel can inspect the full decisions in the Opinion Reader before approving the advice. |
Cecilia Ziniti, our co-founder and a three-time general counsel, started using early language models for legal work at Replit. She saw their potential for drafting and analysis and left in 2023 to co-found GC AI with Bardia Pourvakil. That in-house background is relevant to the contract-review, research, and advice workflows compared here.
After counsel verifies the renewal deadline, use our Agent Connectors to find the business owner’s latest email thread, draft a response stating the checked deadline and unresolved renewal decision, and prepare a follow-up task with an owner and due date. Counsel checks the recipient, text, owner, and deadline before approving the action. This is an illustrative workflow.
Use Needs Approval for actions that send or change data. Availability depends on organization access, administrator enablement, each member’s connected account, and that app’s enabled tools and permissions.
At Arc’teryx, Cameron Clark, Head of Legal, uses GC AI to turn the context from long threads into a clearer response:
It drafts a clear, organized response that pulls the lead up. My writing is sharper and faster.
His example supports the business-writing step. The connected-app retrieval and task sequence above is a proposed pilot, not a claim about the tools he used.
Compare like-for-like proposals. GC AI's Individual plan costs $500 per month; Team pricing is available on request. Contract Intelligence is a separate paid add-on priced by document capacity. Include the capacity your portfolio needs, along with implementation, integrations, and support, when comparing proposals.
Our Team plan includes legal AI courses, a team walkthrough, and Solutions Attorney support. US Case Law, including the Opinion Reader, is included in Team and Enterprise plans and available as an add-on for Individual seats.
Put GC AI to Work on Your Next Contract
We recommend evaluating GC AI when your legal team needs to turn verified contract analysis into a reviewed redline, business advice, or an approved follow-up action.
Bring a representative agreement, its amendments, and your review standards to a GC AI walkthrough. Ask for a cited answer to a question your team needs to resolve, then assess the lawyer corrections and saved work product using the same criteria applied to Robin. This demo introduces our web app and Word integration.
