Introducing Easy Edit: The Best Legal AI Experience for Documents. Redline Word Docs in GC AI

Today we're releasing one of the most requested features from the in-house lawyers who use GC AI: Easy Edit.

Open a Word document right beside your chat, ask GC AI to revise a clause, and watch the tracked change land in the document. Easy Edit is a built-in document editor in GC AI's web app, so you can revise, redline, and comment on a contract in the same place you research it. It is generally available to every customer, included at no additional cost.

Four things GC AI can do while the document is open:

• Revise existing language: ask for “narrow the non-compete to 12 months,” and the proposed redline appears as a card in chat showing the original and the suggested text. Apply it, dismiss it, or edit the wording yourself before it goes in.

• Draft new language: “add a data processing addendum as a new schedule.” GC AI inserts it at the location you name, as a tracked insertion that inherits the formatting and numbering around it.

• Add comments: “flag the IP assignment provision with a note for outside counsel.” The comment appears inline, and the same works for explaining your rationale or leaving an internal note.

• Answer questions about the document: “what does section 7 say about termination for convenience?” GC AI reads the file live, so the answer reflects the edits you made two minutes ago.

Your Playbooks, skills, prior chats, and projects are all available while the editor is open, so a revision can run against your standard positions instead of generic ones.

When GC AI proposes several revisions at once, you apply or reject them together. A formatting toolbar handles manual edits: bold, italic, underline, lists, indentation, page breaks, section breaks, and page numbers.

Suggesting mode records every edit as a redline and is on by default. Editing mode makes clean changes. Viewing mode shows the document as though every tracked change were accepted.

Ask GC AI to draft a contract, memo, or policy, and the finished document opens in Easy Edit, ready to refine. Do you need Easy Edit if your team already uses GC AI for Word?

Both run on the same GC AI, so the revisions and drafts are identical. The difference is where you sit. Easy Edit is for the lawyer already working in GC AI's web app who wants to edit without opening anything else. GC AI for Word is for the lawyer already in Word. Example use cases

Here are a few ways in-house teams put Easy Edit to work.

• Negotiation prep: A commercial contracts attorney uploads a vendor's SaaS agreement and asks GC AI to “run our SaaS agreement review skill on this agreement and make edits to conform to our practice standards.” The markup lands in the document, and she adds comments before sending the redline back.

• Policy drafting: An employment counsel uploads an outline and asks GC AI to “draft the section on remote work eligibility that I can review and edit,” then iterates section by section until the policy reads right.

• Revision from prior research: A privacy in-house lawyer who has been researching new requirements in GC AI uploads the agreement that needs updating and asks GC AI to “revise section 4 to reflect the data privacy requirements we researched and discussed.” Because the research lives in the same workspace, the revision draws on that earlier analysis.

What the in-house lawyer controls

Nothing enters the document without your approval, and you can accept or reject the whole set from the editor header when you want to move faster. Tracked changes are on from the start, so your edits and GC AI's both carry real Word author attribution that survives the download. The redline you send opens correctly for the other side, and comments export as native Word comments.
