We bring AI to in-house legal.

GC AI was born of our CEO Cecilia's first-hand experience at the intersection of technology and in-house legal practice. In early 2022, Cecilia had access to pre-ChatGPT language models. She tried drafting contract language and reviewing and agreement, and saw how immediately how artificial intelligence could transform legal work. After she got the chills trying it (!), Cecilia became obsessed. She and our cofounder Bardia worked at Replit, which already then was making software development better with AI.

Driven by a shared belief that AI could empower, not replace, lawyers, we launched a newsletter about AI and legal. Then, we began teaching AI prompting to legal professionals. That dialogue with early adopters and lawyers ahead of the curve shaped our vision: to build sophisticated, reliable AI tools for deep knowledge work that meet the precision demands of in-house teams.

On November 1, 2023, we took the leap to build GC AI full-time. A week later, General Counsel AI, Inc. was officially incorporated. Then we got to work!

Today, more than 1,000 legal teams later, GC AI is the legal AI platform that understands context, accelerates business decisions, and delivers the accuracy and confidence that legal work requires. And we still run legal AI classes that teams love and drive industry-leading adoption of AI.
